Ensign Tyres |

My next door neighbour has a Box saloon fitted with new (looking) Ensign tyres.
"3.50 x 19 Tube Type Nylon 58S Max load 515 lbs @ 33 psi" inscribed on the sidewalls
Inflated to 20 psi, they look as if they could take another 10, at least. Quite soggy.
Does anyone have experience of these tyres, please?

Oil Baffles |

It would be useful to hear from people who have scrapped the oil baffles at the base of the cylinder bores. Do they think extra oil burning is occurring ? Are they so important when using the pistons with two oil control rings ?

Hello all, Can somebody please advise me on what grade of oil is required for a Mk1 Ruby steering box. I believe it has a high number 150 or 180.
Thanks in anticipation.

I seem to remember there was a post some time ago detailing all the thread sizes used in an Austin Seven. I can't find it now. Is my memory correct? If so can someone please give me the link?

A great big thank you to the Pre War Austin Seven Club Team that organised this event.
We have just returned and are one of the lucky fifty eight cars to have taken part.
The whole weekend was the best, great route, great hotel, great Gala dinner all in all aeriously fun weekend.
Most crews have already booked for next year (April 14) - one not to miss.
Hard to better.

Another disturbing noise from Ruby |

Another plea for help if I may.
As noted on previous posts I had the engine and gearbox out of Ruby to have the block professionally re-honed, check the pistons which were all ok but new rings fitted by the honing man.
I did not disturb the bottom end or the main bearings
I have returned the engine and gearbox back in one piece and boxed everything back together and apart from a leak from the bolts on the side water jacket all seems good.
On starting, she fired up first time, unfortunately this was followed immediately by a high pitched squeal and so I shut her down instantly.
Turning the engine over by hand you can hear the pistons move up and down in the bores as the new rings on the pistons slide against the honed surface, which "to me" quite rough, but in ignorance this may be as it should be??
I have since tried again with the same result each time, I have pumped the clutch pedal and this makes no difference, have ensured oil is in the clutch release race.
Any assistance would be much appreciated.
I attach a link to the a short video in which the noise is pretty evident
Cheers, desperate of Rainham!!

Dizzy screw |

Does anyone have or can spare the screw that goes from the dynamo into the distributor to stop it lifting. (Half thread half plain)
Or what size is the thread and would a completely threaded one suffice ?
Thanks all
