  Speedy Bonnet Hinge Channel
Posted by: Martin Baker - 09-05-2022, 02:31 PM - Forum: Forum chat... - No Replies

I just noticed that the hinge channel on my Speedy has fractured at the radiator end. (i.e. the channel that connects the scuttle to the radiator on which the bonnet is mounted).

Can anyone advise if this unique or which model it shares its design with?

Is anyone making new?

Help!

They are getting so good these days - its remarkable how they've even had to use a different-from-original shade of paint so it doesn't fox the scrutineers. And, being picky, the grade of leather for the strap appears to be wrong.

  Oil levels
Posted by: Denis Sweeney - 09-05-2022, 11:11 AM - Forum: Forum chat... - Replies (13)

I’m pretty sure the following has been asked many times before on this forum but damned if I can find it.

Can anyone confirm what quantity of engine oil is contained in the sump between the max oil level line and the bottom of the dipstick?
Also I believe the gear box has one and a quarter pints of oil but is that still the current thinking?
And lastly I do remember seeing that the oil level in the diff is not recommended to be up to the fill level so again what is the current advice?
Apologies for revisiting this
Cheers

Just wanted to say thanks for a great day yesterday at the Great British Car Journey. We travelled some miles both getting there and some 35 miles covered on the organised run out into the Peak District. Thanks to all involved.

  Another Chummy
Posted by: David Stepney - 07-05-2022, 02:42 PM - Forum: Forum chat... - Replies (26)

Passing Corwen Museum today, I saw a red Chummy standing outside, which is owned by one of the museum curators. He and I had quite a good chat. He tells me that he has owned the car since 1964 and that it appeared on the cover of one of The Batchelors' albums. he also tells me that he does not belong to any of the clubs. Sorry no photo. I was in the 'modern' and didn't have a camera with me.

  Fuel Tank Sender
Posted by: k8207418 - 07-05-2022, 02:10 PM - Forum: Forum chat... - Replies (7)

I’ve managed to get hold of a tank but can’t find a sender so I’ve fitted a Spright unit
I haven’t managed to find nuts to bolt it on unfortunately
The OD of the thread is around 0.2 of an inch so I’m guessing 7/32 bsf
If that’s right anyone know where I can get some ?
