NOVA/Re-registration |

Has anyone got (or recovered from) recent experience of going through the NOVA process? It struck me that the arcane and disconnected information available needs to be clarified for others.
My experience:
1. NOVA1 notification IS required for reregistering British vehicles that have been off the road and aren't on the system, despite the form's advice notes not suggesting that its for this purpose at all!
2. DVLA will tell you you need NOVA, but won't give you the right reason why, leading you to believe that you are trapped in a morasse that could involve VAT payment and through some mistaken belief that you are importing from outside the UK.
2. NOVA applications can be done online, but advice from the HMRC PRU is that you can't do "our" sort of application online, because the form cannot be appropriately doctored to fit our needs (i.e. of being a UK car).
3. DVLA wont proceed with a V55 application for registration unless the car details are on the NOVA system, so essentially you are providing the same information to NOVA first.

Hi, does anyone know where I can get a drivers side carpet (not rubber) made for the RP. The existing carpet has had its day, and keeps getting caught up under the pedals. I didn't want to buy a complete set as the rest are still in good condition. Thanks.

My first post here, I tend to use social media (FB Instagram) it is instant and Photobucket can not ruin your thread.
well I posted some photos and remarked how much fun it is to remove the rear springs specially when it has been boxed.
A gentleman pointed out that most boxing is carried out incorrectly due to the fact the Chassis is made from a high Carbon steel.
Now this comment high Carbon steel intrested me some what.
the way I see Things you have four grades, low middle and high Carbon followed by tool steel. low being the softest and Tool being the hardest.
So making a channel out of 3.3mm high Carbon steel sheet is going to a challenge due to hardness and reluctancy to bend or being welded in cold state.
Did they hot press them in the factory?
I myself am not sure if this is the case that High Carbon was used, as the metal is workable on the Chassis.
anyone know more?

Hi.
I'm new on here and having read a few posts I know that some people don't like links to ebay but we have our family Austin 7 (well one of them - there are others) for sale. This one has a huge amount of family history and even if you're not looking to buy, you may like to have a read through the description. It'll be sad to see it go but needs must unfortunately. It's a beautiful car.
Regards.

Leaking Petrol Pump |

I'm working on the back axle on our Pearl, so have the rear jacked up quite high. The petrol tank has about 2 gallons in iit and is above the level of the petrol pump.
I now find that the pump is leaking petrol, probably from the top/bowl gaskets. I haven't investigated further until I can drop the rear again, as I don't want more petrol leaking everywhere.
Has anyone else experienced this problem? Is it the dreaded ethanol rot to the cork/rubber gaskets? Any other thoughts?
Martin
