  Steering wheel coating repair
Posted by: Chris.Dallas - 07-03-2021, 07:04 PM - Forum: Forum chat... - Replies (4)

Hi all,

Before starting a repair attempt thought it might be wise to get your views! My original Bluemels wheel is in pretty good condition with the exception of a few small areas. To prevent further loss of coating and stop the areas snagging in use I planned on painting the metal black then applying some clear epoxy to seal it and stick the black plastic coating edges....

Thoughts? Certainly don’t want to have it recovered as areas in question are small!

  Cordless work-light suggestions?

Aware that LED technology is improving all the time I wondered if anyone could recommend a good cordless work-light? I'm getting a bit fed up with my current one which won't stay where you put it and begins to dim after an hour or so.

1927 Austin Seven - Enzo Ferrari??
Posted by: Bob Olive - 07-03-2021, 12:26 PM - Forum: Forum chat... - Replies (4)

According to a letter in Motor Sport (circa 1968) a D.J Cundy of Westcliff-on-Sea reported seeing Enzo Ferrari - who'd 'just bought a 1927 Austin Seven'.  Do we know anything about this, and why would the great man want 'an English toy' (there would have Topolinos aplenty one in Italy one would think if he wanted such a thing...).  Someone, somewhere must know something...

New inch and 1/2 splash-fed crank
Posted by: Charles Levien - 06-03-2021, 03:51 PM - Forum: Forum chat... - No Replies

If anyone is interested in acquiring a brand new Phoenix crank ,minus con rods, ring Rob Kitchen of Norfolk Classic and Sports Cars — 01328 855595 ( Fakenham)
He’s putting together a supercharged engine and has now decided to use a pressure fed crank, hence this one for sale — still in its box.
No, I’m not on commission— just being friendly!

  Another Nippy
Posted by: Parazine - 05-03-2021, 01:19 PM - Forum: Forum chat... - Replies (5)

This time in blue:

1935 Austin Seven Nippy | eBay

But is there something wrong with the rear body, behind the seats? Seems to have sharp corners....is this correct?

Would be interesting to know, seeing that the documentation is non-existent,  if this car has any provenance as a Nippy or whether it is another bitza.....

  Roads conditions 1920s

Sometimes we forget just how bad early roads were - and hence how our cars would have handled them. Mike, what are the makes?
