  6v wipers on 12v
Posted by: Nick Salmon - 15-10-2024, 04:15 PM - Forum: Forum chat... - Replies (7)

I know this has been covered before but...

My pal has a Big 7 and when the thing was altered to 12v the P/O failed to do anything to the 6v wiper motor. Could someone kindly tell me what resistor is needed and how it should be fitted - any pics would be v welcome.

Many thanks

  Seven's on Rhode Island
Posted by: Jeff Taylor - 13-10-2024, 03:16 PM - Forum: Forum chat... - Replies (6)

These two have just appeared on Facebook, the RP being JT 1017 and on the Chassis Register when last in UK - 750MC. The guy posting the photos is helping a friend settle a family estate and find a new home for the Sevens - they're on Rhode Island, USA. - DVLA shows no trace of JT 1017 a Dorset 1934 registration.

  uncoupled rear brake mods
Posted by: `Gordonhbm - 11-10-2024, 04:33 PM - Forum: Forum chat... - Replies (24)

I believe that someone introduced compensation for the rear brakes by using a single cable with a swivel plate similar to the coupled front brake and ran the cale over two pulleys to bring the cables into alignment with the rear brake levers.  Can anyone find the  post that showed a photo of this set  ups please?

  Clutch release bearing knackered?
Posted by: Ivor Hawkins - 11-10-2024, 04:13 PM - Forum: Forum chat... - Replies (13)

The clutch release bearing has made a whizzing noise for the past couple of thousand miles, so I pulled the engine and box.

Firstly, I found out why I have to double de clutch up and down between third and top…I hadn’t noticed before, it has a crash box, so I’ll have to search out a synchro box.

Secondly, and more mystifying is that the bearing has no play in it and is absolutely quiet when I spin it…could it still be worn out?

The learned council of experienced A7 friends will be grateful received and faithfully applied!

Could a kind soul please tell me how to delete a post in the sales and wants section? I cannot spot a delete option in the edit mode.

  Ulster "replica" ...a perfection-led copy?
Posted by: Tony Griffiths - 10-10-2024, 01:54 PM - Forum: Forum chat... - Replies (29)

https://www.carandclassic.com/l/C1789914
No doubt that many hours and much expense were indeed spent building this, but the text claims: "..many painstakingly, perfection led hours" It always puzzles me why, with so much data available and original cars to view, people make parts that differ from the original i.e. not "perfection-led". e.g. the touring wings on this car would have been custom-made and look vaguely correct - yet differ considerably in profile from originals - and there is a lot else wrong as well. Mind you, the text is as amusing as ever.
