1936 - where is this Ruby?
#11
Ah, the second photo with wife/baby daughter and son is clearly not Allerford but another ford on Exnoor.....can't remember where.

The road out of the ford at Allerford (disappearing uphill behind ) leads to Selworthy.....another "must visit" hamlet so the Ruby had probably come downhill from there and maybe back out onto the A39.
Or it came over the ford and immediately turned right onto the road up to Bossington......something you can't do any more.   Must go back and see if ford still impassable.
Last visit to Allerford the ford had been badly washed out by floods and was impassable.  Access to Selworthy being from the A39 about a mile further east along the A39.

A magic scenic area with such famous names as Porlock - Lynton and Lynmouth and of course the Lorna Doon country between.  Not so good to visit in the summer though with the hoards of visitors in the narrow lanes.
