Been checking oil consumption (or lack of it). After 800 miles since the last change, the oil is on the 2nd 'L' of 'FULL' on the dipstick. I reckon that's under a pint to top up.

Forecast not too good for the next few days so connected the Accumate while the car sits idle, and covered it with a sheet to keep the cat and the pollen off it.

Bruce,
Love those little bits of advice you give but without it sounding that you are telling others what to do. Just been and put the cover over, although it is going to be nice again here tomorrow.
Best wishes
Peter

When we had 5 cats I initially put a cover over the cars but I found that if the cover moved under the cats feed it's reflex action was to extend it's claws so I gave up with the covers and had less scratches.

I finally managed to visit my Seven (RP saloon) owning friend of 60 years, he has MS and been unable to drive for a few years and walk for the last year when I've phoned him He's put me off visiting for a number of reasons. I went past his house today and saw two cars there, one was his carers and the other belonged to another friend who was mowing the lawn so I called in. His friend said he started and run the MGB owned from new in 1966 but the Sevens's battery was shot. So I returned with a good battery and some fresh petrol filled the empty 26Va carburetor float chamber and it fired up immediately on it's own battery and died when the float chamber emptied. I refilled the chamber twice but the pump, which I fixed last year, is obviously not playing. The pump doesn't have a priming lever so I've got a return visit tomorrow with my lawn mower petrol tank and two gallons of new petrol as I suspect the fuel gauge is telling porkies.

I must admit, i'm a little hesitant at posting these here for risk of upsetting any purists (there were certainly some in the Electric seven thread the other day!)

My father and I visited the Beaulieu annual show in '18 and '19 and one thing we loved is that everyone embraced a bit of individuality.  Not many concourse models to be seen; but instead used and abused and very much regularly enjoyed with the paintwork to show for it.  It was hard to find any truly original models, all fettled in their own way.

Our 1933 Box Saloon was Royal Blue but neither of us were that keen on such a dark colour.  It was also a real pain to find, having ordered some and ended up getting BMC's 'Blue Royale' instead which is a very dark blue/green.  We also much preferred the look of the fully painted body.  So in the end we scratched our heads and kept true to the blue, but went a few shades lighter with a BMC Triumph Tahiti Blue.

This was my first attempt at spraying a car with an air gun and im chuffed to bits with the finish.  Watching all those YouTube videos paid off i think! Would love to hear peoples thoughts, positive or negative.  Ill post some more when the doors/bonnet are re-fitted.

Hi Eddamoo

It’s your car and you should have it the way you want it  Big Grin.

I did the same with our RK. I didn’t care for the maroon it should have been so we painted it Loganberry (purple to you and me).  Even did the upholstery in a similar colour.

Your spraying looks very good and I love the bar sticking out the back presumably to push the car in and out of the garage without touching the paintwork.

Enjoy

Cheers

Well that is a lovely colour. Originality can sometimes become boring.

Nothing wrong with that colour at all Ed, don’t forget Austin would paint a car to order so who knows what other colours are out there?

My Box saloon is a deluxe and was originally turquoise and black with a green interior, but has been red and black for years...it’s now all black with a red interior and I’m happy anyway!

Thank you all for your kind words! Will be sure to post more with the panels on and a flatted/polished finish Smile
