What have you done today with your Austin Seven

Winter sport used to involve dicing with hypothermia, but due to lockdown is rather warmer. The latest Inter-Register Rally took place on table tops, this modest entrant achieved a very modest result, coming 24th out of the 50 entries of whom 39 finished. Team Bradshaw in their Chummy well known for the welcome originality of its front axle, chased a convincing 8th place overall. As usual there was but a tiny number of us signing in as PWA7C cars in a desperate but inevitably unsuccessful attempt to get PWA7C above single figure scores in the Inter-Register championship. It is only in the arcane world of Inter-Reg that Austin Tens outnumber Sevens in competition, today 9 ATOC entrants compared with 4 PWA7C. Anybody thinking about the virtual Measham? Nobody from Colnbrook is going to come and check the lighting in the dining room.

I know it's not an Austin but it was built at Longbridge...

Well, I was going to get the Austin out and give it a run round the block but before I could I had to shift the MG out of the garage. Then I thought "It's a nice sunny day, let's get the top down" so the Austin was relegated to staying in the garage.

Sorry to hear that a lot of you have got snow, but it's mild & sunny here today, and officially Spring, seeing as I spotted the first Mimosa in full bloom in a garden at the end of the valley. Nice to see after the dark days of winter.

Nice car Bruce. The hairdresser (lady) here has just the same! But no, you did'nt hear me say it's a sissy's car... I'm simply jealous.
Mimosa also just blooming around in Brittany. Tomorrow we are promised snow which didn't happen since 2013.

While Rekkers is driving in the spring sunshine, my MGF is relegated to the garage, feeling a bit Uncle Dick.

Todays job is to de-pressurize the suspension and work on removing the bottles - if I can get motivated to do anything in these sub zero, arctic conditions....

My 2001 MGF was due to go in for a suspected failed head gasket replacement yesterday, but the snow curtailed any thought of taking her across the downs to Headcorn to the Maidstone Sports Car garage to do the work. Had her new ten years now and she has been a sheer joy, but the signs of water in oil have been growing increasingly and so decided to job done, then came the snow.......
Hopefully I’ll get her in next Monday.

Dennis, before you take the car to your chosen garage, have a word with Russel Walsh on www.mgroversolutions.com he is a travelling mechanic, very well versed in the MGF head gasket solutions and comes highly recommended. He is in Kent. Telephone 07515539849 or possibly 07515 539894

Thanks, I’m not sure if the guy you mentioned is one that my regular garage recommended, my local garage is an old fashioned village garage and they do all my servicing and work on the MG but they were not interested in using the multi-shim gasket as they had never installed one before and they suggested a travelling mechanic who specialises in head gaskets, does it at your own place and is based in Kent, so it is possible it is the same guy, too much of a coincidence perhaps?
However I had been in discussions with the guys at MGOC and they had recommended MSC at Headcorn who have given a comprehensive works list including the multi-shim gasket, new studs, metal dowels, machining the head, flushing through with all fluids before replacing oils and coolants, replacing belts, water pump and temperature thermostat and few other bibs n bobs. The price they have quoted is only slightly more than my local garage quoted to fit the old style gasket, so I guess I’m sold on it, but thanks for the nudge it is appreciated.
I’ll keep you posted on how it goes, they want the car for for two weeks

What's this?! We'll have no trouble here. This is a Seven forum, for Seven people.

Away with these 'MG's you speak of or I shall have Tubbs show you what we do with your sort round here!
