Much reduced ground clearance IMHO. In our village we have a couple of potholes and lumps that would see it off in short order I think. I'd hate to drive on our local country roads with that ...

I think the favoured source for a 12v alternator was either a Kubota tractor or a Citroen 2CV. I have one from a 2CV on one of my shelves, just in case...
