Just been clearing some of my drawers out in the office and came across a few old photos, of the Coast to Coast I took part in before moving down here.
First one is on the village green at Reeth, and the two others are at the top of Buttertubs Pass. Malcolm can probably identify the year, probably around 1990? Started from Scarborough North Bay.

Those photos bring back some happy memories, Bruce.
Without going into my garage loft and rummaging through masses of files of past runs, I cannot confirm the year.  I would guess that it is mid 1990's.
The second and third photos were taken on one of the 'optional sections' that featured on that years Coast to Coast Run.   There were about four of these, using little known 'white roads'.  The one shown is the road that leaves the B6270 just outside Gunnerside at Satron, climbing steeply over Gill Head to emerge at the top of Askrigg Bank at Oxnop Scar.
The red box saloon at the front of the line is Steve and Angie Jones's car.

LIke Malcolm, those photos bring back memories. I don't know what year it was but I still have the plaque although the car's long sold. Just fished the plaque out and it's undated as some of the earlier ones were. The photo of the village green in Reeth made me smile. Not this event but Malcolm managed to demolish a large litter bin on that green when his car ran away one year.

I have neen thinking about resurrecting a coast to coast run for a while. We have the Heather and Honey, now based on Leyburn, the Cumbria run, which starts at Masham north of Ripon and heads to the Lakes via the Forest of Bowland, and of course the Sevens to the Sea, which connects Lincoln to Cleethorpes.
I would propose to resurrect the run from Scarborough to Morecombe, and perhaps vice versa on alternate years.
Is anyone interested, or is the annual schedule of events now too crowded, and are we all too old?

Tony, not 1924, but April 1925 - in fact a century old tomorrow April 9th.  
Attached image of OM4389 at the start of the Herefordshire run, dwarfed by a rather nice Crossley whilst being admired by the city police.  The Lyons' Chummy just part visible to the left.
Also the "Birth Certificate" - a 1973 photostat copy of the "Declaration for a Licence and Application for the Registration of a MOTOR CAR", signed for by "--Nott?" on behalf of the first owners, the Austin Motor Company themselves.  Hence the Birmingham registration OM.....

Wow! That's a lovely document to have—and all in exchange for a model train (a very in-joke between Mike and me).

Went on the Sevens-to-the-Sea Run. A wonderful weekend away and found another 1930 AF registered in the same area ,exactly a month after mine. It looks as though the man who stamped the transmission tunnel top had the letter F upside down.

3589 is a car I know very well, Tony. Owned by our great friends and all being well we'll be away with them and our Sevens again in May. SW Scotland this time. I'm pretty sure I remember it and your car were parked within a few feet of each other at Prescott during the Centenary Week.

I think the photos of the Coast to Coast are possibly 1992.   
Steve well remembers when my 1931 saloon ran away down Reeth village green. I had started it and left it warming up with the handbrake on.  As it ran away Steve and myself ran after it trying to stop it but to no avail.  It was heading towards a large roadside litter bin which appeared to be made of concrete.   That would surely stop it but I didn't relish the damage that would ensue.   Fortunately the concrete litter bin was made of fibreglass.   It was sent flying into the road with a clatter as various drinks cans and other rubbish rolled down the road.   The Austin survived with only a minor dent on the left side front wing, it could have been much much worse!
I vividly remember scrabbling about in the middle of the road picking up tin cans and banana skins, both of us helpless with laughter.
