It has features not unlike the Raleigh 20 I keep "fit" (slightly active) on, assembled from bits souvernired from the inorganic collection 20 years ago.
I would be worried about a major frame fracture as I do on the 20 (local assembly omitted a reinforcing bar).
There is huge snobbishness and fashion in the bicycle world. The weight and perfomance of a quality mass produced sports bike of 40 years ago would be almost identical.
Incidentally if anyone uses a mind numbing indoor exercycle i recommend thay swap it for the real thing, however bassic.
30 mph downhill is as exciting as 50 mph in a stock Seven.

I came across a gaggle of elderly cyclists on ky way to a steam rally a fortnight ago (driving my steamer). One of them needed the oil can, so I obliged.

Speaking of steam here is a very short video taken about 10 years ago in 40 degree heat overtaking a Leyland? steam wagon with my (now sold) 1909 Sizaire Naudin 1600cc single. It was hot for us (esp. cranking it) but inside the cabin with a furnace must of been hell for the wagon driver.

More on the Sizaire please. Quite one of the most interesting veterans. Just how rough/smooth was the ultra long stroke engine? How many Sevens did you overtake? All impressions of interest. Any discernible advantage of the i.f.s?

The sizaire was remarkably smooth at speed as it had essentially 3 huge flywheels. The crank was just two flywheels with a big end joining them. The IFS was very good, the car tracked beautifully (no wandering) and it ironed out the bumps. I drove this car from Perth to Sydney (4000 kms) and from Adelaide to Darwin (about the same) long straight road was what it was best at.
The one you have in NZ is a rocket ship but it is highly modified mine was not that fast.
I made two videos of the insides of the gearbox and driving with the camera under the car showing how the tailshaft moves during gear changing, it was a very interesting car but very challenging to drive with that transmission.

May not be Seven stuff but raises a myriad more questions. Presumably have to spin the whole driveshft when double declutch. The teeth must get a mighty hammering with so much spinning weight.

Tony, Yes that about sums it up. First gear really noisy, second gear not quite as noisy, top gear reasonably quiet.
