What have you done today with your Austin Seven
First trial fitting of my new Ulster exhaust manifold. So far, so good. The choke was a challenge but I managed to get it such that I get full choke without it fouling the manifold.

Nice manifold, who did that one?

I dont get it Steve. The manifold in the picture isn't the same as the one fitted to the engine? The bend on n°4 is different.

It is, Bruce. It's just the angle of the photo that makes it look different.

Made by Ryan Edwards at Bicester.

HThat’s nice - did you take the car there to get it done or are they off the shelf?

No. Bespoke made using my previous manifold as a pattern to set the critical dimensions. He also had my carb and inlet manifold. When I collected it on Wednesday he was doing an exhaust for a mid '70's BMW 635 CSL (a Batmobile). Unbelievable work.

I quite like such sporty things (isn't that a John Barlowe inlet manifold??) and I don't really don't want to be the Killjoy but have you or haven't you fitted a heat shield??? If not you might consider one as the exhaust manifold now seems to be quite a nice 'rechaud' for the fuel……

No, no heat shield. This manifold replace one that's been in place since I built the car in 2013 and that has since done 5 full seasons of Hill Climbs and Sprints, usually double entered (the equivalent of 55 events in total), together with a fair bit of road mileage each year with no fuel issues so far.

Be interesting to see what the difference is from an improved manifold.
And I can see your lambda sensor boss, so you're getting serious....
