What have you done today with your Austin Seven
Hi All

After failing to find the cause of the “clutch knock” I had last week I bit the bullet and removed the engine.  Still no wiser but I took the opportunity to instal an engine I built last year as a spare. It has the advantage of having a Phoenix crank amongst other things  Wink.

It’s taken two days to get it to start!  Cold weather doesn’t help but the main culprit was the low tension connection to the coil which showed continuity with the meter but was intermittent when the engine turned over. I only noticed when checking the points spark and saw a spark at the connection!  Then I foolishly put on a rebuilt carb that “I thought” I’d set up. Turned out non of the jets had been tightened and the float level was way out.

Anyway this morning I’ve got it running and after a couple of minutes I was just about to switch off when a cylinder head core plug blew off…..water everywhere.

I think I’ll go back to bed.

Cheers

Howard
