Iam looking to mount a SU pump on a 1927-8 chummy with front tank - however space under the bonnet is tight, can anyone give some suggestions on where the best place to mount the pump is?

I looked at that option lastnight, but wasnt convinced it would be easy to access should it need any maintinence.

I believe Burlen offer an "electronic" (points free) version but last time I looked I could only see a 12V model.
The standard SU pump is effectively maintenance-free if the car is regularly used. After long periods standing idle the points can stick (in which instance a whack with a bit of wood is all the 'maintenance' mine ever needed, to jolt them free again). I recently overhauled the pump on my Ulster rep after about 35 years in service - I only did so because I was chasing after a fault which turned out in the end to be a blocked petrol tap - so it was completely unnecessary. |
