Frank, you are quite right about CTEK six volt being currently unavailable, most odd. Can’t find out whether there is a production hiccup, or a policy decision not to continue with 6v.

I have two "smart" chargers/battery conditioners - one by Accumate and the other by Black and Decker. Both are switchable for either 6v or 12v.

But terribly expensive delivery nowadays. They are good and I have one myself. More recently I was in need of another and am lucky that I live close to the MG owners place just outside Cambridge, so was able to get 'half' of an MGA/MGB 'pair' over the counter...

The charger I used for the trickle charge is an Acumate, but will not be using it for any long periods now.

Since the CTEK 6v charger is no longer available, I picked up a Victron Energy 6v/12v smart charger. I was advised that they are considered a direct substitute for the CTEK. Apparently it has 7 stage smart charging, maximum 1.1 amps, so it should be fine for long term storage.

I've used a 6/12-volt Accumate from March 2019 and it's been fine. It has a proper mechanical switch for 6 or 12-volt selection and comes with both clips and a lead that can be permanently attached. It's been left on batteries for many months but, so that I reduce the number of times I swap it from car to car,  I  bought another two weeks ago for £60 on Amazon - but now on Amazon this has risen to £72, which is rather too expensive. It seems to be a trickle charger with no smarts. I removed a similar device from my Special and fitted the Victron (mentioned above). I haven't had enough time to compare either charger, but the Victron inspires more confidence.
