Friends' Gallery Picture of the Month - October 2023
#11
As is well documented, quite a few changes were made to the very late Ruby cars - not least the rod rear brakes, which changed chassis details and the brake cross-shaft - this becoming much lighter and simpler. The dowelled wheels also disappeared around this time.

Every model-year there were updates, but perhaps Leonard Lord - whose personal transport was a Ruby for a while - had a direct hand in this? Changes such as adopting the 'on top' steel roof and the Big Seven rear axle could have been aimed at cost saving - or at least streamlining production. But is surprising that there were so many changes so late in the day - so close to the end of production.

Perhaps it shows how quickly things were moving at that time, with Leonard Lord in-post and starting to make his mark? It wasn't very long before the whole new Eight came along.
