After measuring the springs and  corresponding with Ruairidh  it turns out that my springs are incorrect, so I am in the process of  correcting this. Thank you all for your input.

Springs on austin sevens can be a mixed bag.

I am vey much in favour of fitting new ones, the car drives better and sits just right.
