Steering cross tube connections
#1
Hi All

I am in the process of removing the front complete hub with brakes and everything else, with a view to renewing the king pins , I have released everything except the clamping jaw on the steering cross member BM 82 in my parts book, there are two holes in the claw one for clamping the jaw onto the steering cross tube and the other looks like a cotter, theĀ one on my car has the head damaged and I cannot get it to move, is this holding a pin in ?

Any good explanations of the set up and ideas who to remove the cotter (if it is one) will be appreciated so I can remove the hole hub to the work bench

thanks
Mike

Yes its a cotter Mike, occasionally they can be a bastard to remove, you could just remove the steering arm from the stub axle then remove the cotter on the bench where it is easier to support the track rod end and get a decent blow on the cotter
