I just love the method of getting more track contact at the rear!!

A lot of cars were fitted with twin rears at this time- more usually for Hill Climbs.

George Abecassis used twin rears on his Alta at Crystal Palace and (like Bert Hadley) won there with them too. The pre-war circuit was much more winding and tight than that used after the war.

I had the pleasure of meeting Bert Hadley. We had a long chat about the old days. He was a charming man and genuinely delighted that I had driven from Wokingham to Coventry in my Austin Swallow.
