Control bracket tube.

I would very grateful if somebody could tell me the correct way to attach the threaded brass fitting to the end of the tube. Many thanks.

Hi

If you mean the steering wheel control levers attached to the tubes that run down the centre of the steering column, then they are soft soldered.  Mine were quite a tight fit and took solder very easily. Remember to wire wool the contact surfaces and use a good flux….cleanliness is vital.

Cheers

Hi Howard,  not exactly what I meant. The tube in question fits inside the steering shaft. It pokes out at the steering wheel end about 1/2" which allows the control lever bracket to be clamped to it. The other end has to be fixed at the steering box end using a threaded brass fitting which I now understand has to be soldered on, the same as the control levers are soldered on to their tubes. Many thanks for your quick response. I can now get on with it. Regards Rob.
