Where to source a Ruby Silencer Box
#1
Hopefully you can share some knowledge of where to get parts from...

The silencer on my Ruby has rotted away so needs to be replaced. I've had a bit of a look around and can't seem to find a suitably dimensioned replacement - especially regarding the centre bore. Any ideas where i might be able to buy a (reasonably priced) replacement? I have no issue making it fit all the other existing exhaust parts, it's sourcing a silencer I'm having trouble with. Alternative will be to make one if I can't find one....perhaps for a more 'sporty' note?!!

Thanks

Ray

Have you tried our cherished suppliers?

I think Jamie at Seven Workshop lists silencers - whether they fit a Ruby I'm sure he could tell you.

Hugh and Chris beat me to it.

Seven Workshop lists a LWB silencer for about £70 + VAT

I can vouch for Jamie’s exhaust system and the silencer...I’m not sure about “sporty” mine sounds like an Austin Seven!

On my special (Ruby based) I ended up using one I got from a local (in NZ) exhaust place that was meant for an 850cc Mini. It works well and the inlet/outlet pipes were the right diameter for the exhaust I made. It was the one with the smallest diameter pipes they had.

The best sounding silencers I have ever run were Reliant ones - straight through, lovely burble.

I have 2cv torpedos ( the long one under the car) on both my Big 7 and special fit well sound good. I fitted them as I had some from spares for my 2cv's. Pete
