#1
Does anyone supply new rubber grommets to sit between the chrome bezels and the painted dash panel on Ruby’s please?

Would there be an 'O' ring of the right dimensions?

Thank you Jim,

I have tried these but they are too round and way too shiny - I think the originals were more like a large thin rubber washer.

Cut them from silicon rubber sheet?

If the size is known, and enough people want them, I am sure the people who make the gaskets could do them.

If you tell me a size, I can do a 1mm thick one by hand for you to try.

Simon

I only have terracotta colour, though.   Would be worth a try maybe?

Hi

I just did a search on "Austin 7 instrument to dash panel seals" and a number of sites came up. I got a set this way a few years ago, but haven't tried them out yet otherwise I could recommend a particular supplier. They looked Ok at the time.

The sponge cord might be the right stuff that JD does.I think I have used that as the sealing ring between glass and bezel before, available in 2 or 3 mm dia.looks like o ring but much softer. Can't think of the seal suppliers name at the moment,C O H Baines is one.

I have been known to use a suitable rubber band. They do perish quite quickly, but it won't matter if you don't disturb them.
