Exhaust manifold torque settings
#1
Hi All,

What is an approximate torque setting for the exhaust manifold nuts? I've got them at 5 ft lbs which seems OK.

I think you have a safe figure; it agrees with the figure I found on the web. It is very easy to overdo tightening particularly on 1/4" and smaller. With brass nuts it is even more critical; tight enough to seal properly and no more. If there is any doubt about the threads after use on a very hot component you can ensure best life by replacement.

After a couple of heat cycles re tighten the manifold nuts.
