I guess that Austins were trying to jazz things up a bit with the new sports sevens. They even mention "65 mph" on the colour card itself, which is a bit over the top surely. With old cellulose, reds and maroons often had a problem with fading and dullness. Do you remember BMC tartan red in the 1960's on minis and 1100's? It would sometimes turn light pink on the horizontal surfaces.
