I’m surprised it didn’t make more than that.

id like to say im surprised that it didnt go for more.

but thats an auction, you need at least two people crazy for it.

i didnt see any pics of the engine? theres alot of cost there, if its wrong.

perhaps the big money wanted a bluemels wheel Big Grin

current covid conditions may have had alot to do with it, and nobody useing old cars.

or perhaps it wasnt the right auction house.

an original blown ulster is still not the easiest thing to get hold of, if the engine was correct. my guess was £50k to £60k.

it could just be someone with big pockets, got a steel.

good luck to them.

I too thought it may have gone further.
The engine was a proper 10 stud one, evidently fitted in the 30's, fitted with a replica blower.
Don't know what's inside but given the recent history I'd suspect that critical rotating parts weren't of Longbridge origin any more.

I spoke to the new owner today. It joins his other Ulsters and 25 or so other A7s. As Tony said - big pockets.
Hope to meet him soon as he is also the guy who bought the Speedy CMF 842 at auction in 2016.

It sounds like the car has gone to someone who appreciates it...let’s hope he drives it so we can see it!

Tony, yes it is the one sold at the HVA Auction in 2016, CMF 842. Obviously, my interest is as Speedy Register registrar. I have never managed to see this car.

Hi martin,

Yep I would have liked to have bid on speedy, I was there. I just didnt have the money for it on the day.

Knowing the new owner, I'll suggest the speedy is still in the same condition as bought. But I dont know what sort of indoor storage he has nowadays

hopefully the ulster will be will find a dry indoor space.

Good luck to him with the ulster.

Tony.
