19 inch tyre preference please
#10
They don't come out of the same mould. The mould for the Longstones was one that Dougal commissioned when he started his project to market his own brand of tyres. The first sample he received had 'Longstone' in large letters on the side. In period, the name of the manufacturer wasn't shown large on tyres and he therefore had the mould changed to show 'Longstone' at a more period correct size. I have Longstones on all my wheels, at 25psi they're super on the road, at 35/40 psi they're super on the track. They wear well, look period correct and, importantly, are designed and constructed as a car tyre rather than a motorcycle or sidecar tyre. The latter were all we had at one time. We've now moved on from there.
