Scottish Austin Seven Club - Summer holiday 2019...
#1
Following the our National Rally this year the Club will be spending a week in Perthshire with the following suggestions for road runs - everyone is welcome.

A weekly unit rate for camping is available at £60 or a nightly rate of £11 - ask away if you have any questions...

The Scottish Austin Seven Club Holiday

Guildtown 2019

Monday 29th July – Sunday 4th August

Suggested Road Runs

Monday – Glen Quaich

·       This scenic run takes in some of the most beautiful scenery Perthshire has to offer and passes the oldest tree in the UK taking in many small and interesting roads.  There are no obvious fuel stops on the route and you should leave with a full tank.

Tuesday – Balmoral Castle

·       The route to the Queen’s holiday home takes you up and over Britain’s second highest road.  The route is a spectacular mountain road – food and fuel can be bought in Braemar.  The Castel is a great place to spend the day, eat and enjoy.

Wednesday – Glen Clova

·       The suggested route for Wednesday takes you on a tour of the best parts of the Angus Glens.  Fuel can be bought in Kirriemuir and the Glen Clova Hotel serves food.

Thursday – Visit to Local Classic Car collection / Shopping in Perth

·       The Club has been invited to view a large personal car collection in nearby Scone, following this a suggested route to Cairn O Mohr winery and then into Perth.

Friday – Glamis Castle, The Gin Bothy Distillery

·       The Queen Mother’s childhood home provides a day visit in itself – the Strathmore VV Club also house a small car collection on the site.  Nearby is the Bothy Gin Distillery – always a popular treat!

Saturday – Local Touring

·       Spend the day relaxing locally, visiting the UK’s tallest beech hedge and perhaps Scone Palace.  In the evening we shall have the now (world?) famous end of holiday Ceilidh – this is a “bring a dish event” shared supper and you are encouraged to sing a song, play an instrument or tell a joke in the old style, if you wish.

Recommended OS Landranger Maps: 43, 44, 52, 53

Packed Lunch would be recommended for most days as no lunch stops will be pre organised but there are some places to buy and eat food along the suggested routes.

The routes are suggestions which we hope you will enjoy, these will be displayed on a master Map/s using highlighter pens – it is up to you to transfer these to your own maps and make up small groups to travel with.
