Hi Bill,
David Cochrane confirmed that my car had probably been
a Pram Hood Chummy body, but sadly(?) I don’t have the 6” axles
Nor a mag engine.( I decided to go for an early coil engine as I know nothing about
Magnetos)
I knew GE cars had such a makers ( Austin) chassis plate stating that they were the property of
the factory( till sold as completed cars) .
My understanding was that other “volume” coach builders using chassis
bought from Longbridge also had a similar plate?
So Swallow, Mulliner etc models may have also had this plate?
Can anyone confirm that?
Presumably the chassis etc were supplied by Austin on a sale or return basis
and coach builders only paid Austin when completed cars were sold.
If by some misfortune they went out of business Austin’s could retrieve
Their property without going through the administrator or liquidator?
Ps I’d love a plate to borrow to make some facsimiles...
All the best
