Thanks for all the helpful replies.
Martin's brackets look to be very similar to the originals which I'm re-using. The car was last rebuilt in the 1980s and had a thin rubber strip between the brackets and the tank when I started my rebuild
The threads on the original ubolts are corroded so I will be replacing them with 2 bolts joined with a strip welded on top to stop them rotating when twisting the nuts on and off
Here's a pic of the floor from inside the car showing the additional (original?) plate where the the brackets are bolted
