Following a query from an A7CA club member, an enquiry was made to RH Insurance as to whether or not the use of a vehicle insured through RH was covered for 'Treasure Hunts'.
A7CA told RH that treasure hunts on public roads are where there are a number of questions relating to buildings, scenery, etc that have to be answered in the course of a drive out. The only competitive element is in getting the answers correct. There is no element of competitive timing, though there might be a close off time for the event.
The reply from RH Insurance is that: "Treasure hunts are covered as long as you are adhering to the rules of the road."
This is excellent news as we know some clubs have avoided holding treasure hunts because they thought that insurance cover would not apply.
A7CA stresses that the advice we have now received ONLY applies to policies taken out with RH Insurance.
