Help - new front brake cable
#1
From the "it will be obvious how it goes back" school of mechanicing!!!!

I am putting on a new adjustable front brake cable. I have not done one before. It was only when I was fixing the second side that I realised I wasn't completely sure I knew which way round it should go on over the brake lever blob. Commonsense tells me the resulting "hole" should be as small as possible    - but..................

Is photo A correct

OR

Photo B

AND

Is Photo C

OR

Photo D  correct?

Sorry to be an idiot (again)

Guidance appreciated as always - thanks

A and C. I think but could be wrong.

Hi. I believe the cutout is to avoid wear or binding on the "neck" of the ball end of the brake lever, bearing in mind that the cable is at an angle and that this angle changes with steering. My vote is that A and C are correct, but I'm prepared to be proved wrong !

A and C as suggested but I still do not like the modern front cable assembly. The cable is much too stiff, and the adjustable pinch bolt end is not the best idea.

Thanks all. Much appreciated.

Given the restrictions of lever and cable ends I can see that A and C make the most sense.

Finished the job tomorrow hopefully. ?
