Starting handle casting Effective bodges - David.H - 19-03-2021 I am not a bodger by nature, but......My starting handle is a bit loose in the (rather moth eaten) crumbly casting. I have seen fix uppers involving sleeves etc, but really all I want is to stop it rattling and dribbling! the shaft can't be removed without taking the casting off, but can I perhaps push in a sleeve/bung made of a plastic, deformable material that is better than (say) plasticine !!!!! Or something with an O ring?? RE: Starting handle casting Effective bodges - Stumpi - 19-03-2021 I made a PVC sleeve to take up the slack on a shortened nose. Make sure its not to tight as its easy to crack the casting, if i made another i would leave a small flange on the outer end. I have made a 1/4 thick rubber washer that fits over the handle which pushes up to the face of casting after starting. It stops the ingress of water and dust when trialling. Andy RE: Starting handle casting Effective bodges - David.H - 19-03-2021 Thanks very much, I will have a go! |
