Whitworth hexagon bar is still available in .445" .525" .600" etc. sizes from the bright steel stockholders I usually use, but the specs are usually one of the freecutting mild steel variants. From my experience it seems there's very little EN8 equivalent or better available in any imperial AF sizes; even the fractional inch UNF/UNC ones. I would be more than happy to be pointed at a stockist (who doesn't have 1 tonne minimum order!) of such if someone knows of one.

I've tired of people selling anything socket head and coloured black as Unbrako brand, and when you get them it's clear from the finish that they're not.
I treat high spec bolts on eBay with great suspicion.

Nookies nuts for nice single chamfer BSF: http://www.nookysnuts.com

I am not a great lover of stainless but do use the 3/4 x 1/4BSF bolts with ordinary nuts for wings and panels : https://www.polished-stainless.com/

They are nice nuts.
Difficult to type without a Frankie Howerd exclamation, but I really mean it.

This is a probable source. very knowledgeable & I have bought small quantities ...if they have stock. Remember if you treat a manufacturer like a corner shop you will pay corner shop prices!

For my Riley 9 I have been buying from Thomas Smith Fasteners: https://www.thomassmithfasteners.com/

Anyone I buy from also has to ship to NZ at reasonable rates and they have been good so far.

I ended up 3D printing change gears in nylon for my little lathe so I can cut my own threads when necessary too. It's a little Emco lathe. Nice, but a little small. One day I will upgrade to something bigger and a bit more rigid I think. Mine doesn't have a threading indicator. I should probably 3D print one of them too!

I've always used Namrick but have not bought any lately.

I like a trade counter where you can have a look and a feel of what you're getting. These people in Leeds have yet to let me down:

I always used E.C. Pitcher Ltd in Walsall. They sell all threads as well as tools etc.
