Hi

That portable radio (Philco ?) and the pair of white sunglasses have a definite 1950's look about them. And is that a "butterfinger" candy bar ?? Maybe the lucky lady had a friend in the US Army !

RE: German Nippy - Tony Griffiths - 05-04-2021

A good guess on the radio - Model 48-360 or 49-607 and made in that style with the curved handle from 1947 to 1949: it appears here: https://philcoradio.com/gallery2/1948a/#Model_48-300 and here https://philcoradio.com/gallery2/1949a/#Model_49-607
The sunglasses? https://vintagedancer.com/1950s/history-of-1950s-glasses-sunglasses-for-women/
So, it is indeed very likely that the picture was taken, as you suggest, in the mid-1950s.
For looking up obscure things, is not the web (most of the time) utterly remarkable....

Lovely to see the photograph coloured Tony.
Also the excellent detective work, the picture is dated August 1949 so after the hostilities.

So, 1949 - the white sunglasses must have been works prototypes! Actually, they did exist in that form, but I can only find large "fun and wacky" ones at the moment..
