Sticking with bacon slicers (BS), all three of my cars with this type are attached to the crankcase with 5/16" BSF bolts. 
I am currently working on a '31 engine on which I was going to fit a BS to get it bench started. The threads on this case however are 5/16" BSW, which is a pain!, and they appear to be the original.
Did they change the spec? Anybody know?

For what it's worth, Chris I have a mid 1932 crankcase ( 158596 ) which has 5/16" BSW threads for the BS starter bolts.
