Check the mesh of the dynamo gear too. This can make horrible noises if too slack.

Before you do any more stripping and/or investigation, perhaps it might be a good idea to let someone with good A7 knowledge see and hear the car.

I concur with Bruce, someone with A7 knowledge should listen to your motor...I have an engineer’s stethoscope (motor mechanics used to use a long screwdriver) and it really does isolate where the noise is coming from and it may well be something very easily rectified without having to whip the motor out.

I agree with Hugh. 
Your best way forward is to join a club you will find experienced help near you.
It's a no brainer.
Mistakes can be expensive and frustrating.
