Loctite in place of locking tabs.

I use cap head bolts, loctited in, no washer. Been doing this years, no problems.

As do I, the last time a couple of weeks ago. Just make sure the cap heads are decent quality from a good source.

Newer type loctite blue thread locker available in lipstick type applicator is very useful to have in the tool box of any old car but you must make sure the surfaces on the male and female parts of the thread are very clean. I also mark all of the nuts with a thin paint pen on our trials car so I can see very quickly what is coming undone.
