Hey There, May I ask if anyone has original battery clamp brackets on their Nippy/ 65 , Could they draw around it for me on paper or card. I would like to make up the correct shape. Only need a template for one side,I can then reverse for opposite side.
Kind Regards Rob RPM
Thanks Jon, must confess I didn't get on very well from the details and measuments. Good news though,I made a good looking Nippy door lock from Chris Goulds details , I had the original covers and one lock.

I found the information adequate to produce the brackets. I printed the pic of the original bracket and found it to be near to scale which provided the basis for a template. Once I cut out and folded the bracket I bolted it in position and figured out the angle and length required for the bolt. I sourced the battery cover from info supplied by Ian Wiilams. Thanks again Ian.
Got to admit I struggled a bit with the sketch, though I haven't tried to make one yet.
Moss Europe were selling repro battery covers for MGA which I *think* are the same other than the exit points for the cables.
Can supply a link if anyone's looking, they were £80 or so.
I keep promising to make a drawing of the original clamps for JonE to place on the Nippy site, the complication is that the two genuine bracket in my possession have very slightly different angles and dimensions. This is I believe because the the threaded portion and top of the brackets are a forging welded to a sheet steel lower section. It has been suggested by my mate Joss that the forging was also used on a Ruby battery clamping strap, if I can lay my hands on one of these I will confirm this which if correct would allow very authentic reproductions to be created.
This is all ironically good news, as normally we get absolutely NO dialogue about any of the huge number of archive posts.
So some feedback that people are finding it not all completely up to scratch is, ahem, positive!
I'll put up new info and re-publish the old post when these new investigations are complete.
Worth saying, there are now a couple of owners who have conceived and written new posts on restorers' detail on the archive, so the vision for what could happen IS happening, very gradually. But more are welcomed. You don't need to be a specialist, just asking questions about the current advice and findings which exist and documenting/reporting your Nippy findings or personal experience on something you are trying to get your head round.... to help others in the future after we are all gone.
