1925/26 factory Austin 7’s were fitted with silencers which had an integral
Stubby tailpipe. See the page from a period Spares book.
The tail pipe exits to the side of the rear wheel, it doesn’t direct
Any oily fumes towards the tread of the NS rear tyre. I once had a
near accident with that issue on a VW van.
The fumes might be a cause for concern if stopped in the one place with
the engine running for too long.
In a nippy little car like the Cup I don’t plan to linger long in any
One place!
