Just appeared on Youtube last last night....

Is that Vince Leek (with his ScA7C badge in the windscreen)?

I have now watched this all the way through and found it very interesting - my father makes a brief appearance at the 1hr mark, I was quite surprised to see him at such an event. He tells me that he went with Stanley Edge in his Alfa Romeo, Stan wanted to go and asked Ian to come with him.

The film is very interesting, many thanks to the person who uploaded it.

that is an incredibly rich record to have in that easily accessible form.

thanks Jack Flash, whoever you might be! Seemingly from the other excellent vids posted on the channel, a London club member...?

I have watched 18 minutes of the film and have to go out, darn it. I am utterly captivated! It is absolutely wonderful.  Cannot wait to watch the rest of it. Seems as if every Austin 7 hero/heroine is featured! Thanks to whoever posted it.

That bought back some memories, not least of welding the broken halfshafts back together in the pits on the second record attempt; they usually seemed to break and need repairing at silly o'clock in the morning.

Extraordinary work Stuart.

How many days did the second attempt run over please?

IIRC, the piston failure occurred on the 8th day. The halfshaft failures had knocked back the average speed during the previous couple of days.

1000 miles a day - amazing.
