Bar's leak
#13
Hi All

I liked Bill’s story too.  Reminds me of my student days.  I had a friend who was pretty clueless when it came to cars but to get mobile he bought an old Austin Cambridge.  Inevitably it was a bad buy and on the first trip boiled over on a dual carriageway in Manchester.  A passing police car stopped and helpfully the officer suggested putting an egg in the radiator.  To which my friend asked “Should I boil it first?”

Cheers

Howard

PS. Using any compound (even raw egg) is a bit risky unless you know where the leak is. Minor radiator and hose leaks yes, but I wouldn’t try to solve a head gasket this way. Taking the head off is not a huge job and will be a better solution in the long run.
