ScA7C 50th National Rally - Guildtown, 2021
#1
The following has just been sent to all ScA7C members, many Forum members are also regular attendees at the rally and our other events, please spread the word.

Notes from a ScA7C special committee meeting to discuss events for 2021

Social distancing is still a thing and a limit on attendees will be applied to events like ours, toilets and the cleaning of these could be a real issue for us at Guildtown. Bringing in additional toileting would be very costly.

Difficult to know just now if the tiered structure will prevent members from outside of Perth and Kinross being able to come.

Very unlikely that we will be able to hold the Ceilidh –if an outbreak was to occur and mitigations were found not to have been followed, who would be held responsible?

Would a small community like Guildtown want us turning up? Largo and Elie opened up for tourists last summer and the locals were very anxious with the influx.

People’s safety needs to come first.

Will people come if they have not yet had their second jag?

A lot of very large Scottish rallies and many Highland Games are already cancelled, some tabled for late summer.

Things are still very uncertain, we need to be flexible and not fixed on a date.

If all events are cancelled by the Club nothing will be run under the Club’s name. Individuals who decide to run informal gatherings would be doing so without the public liability insurance afforded to Club events.

Any event run under the Club’s name would now require a Covid Officer who would note down how the event was being run, within the rules set out at that time. They would make note of everyone attending and they would have the responsibility of ensuring social distancing and current Government advice/ruling was adhered to. Usually this is taken on by the event organiser.

We have all been looking forward to celebrating 50 years but if we cannot enjoy it in the time-honoured fashion, is that fitting? We should rearrange for another time.

We also have the not improbable scenario of local lockdowns and other slowing measures if transmission and mutation rates become elevated after the relaxation of restrictions.

The Committee voted unanimously to postpone the Guildtown rally and all other official Club events until such a time as Government guidelines clearly allow such events to happen

Our provisional dates for 2022 are Friday 29th April to Monday 2nd May - moved temporarily from our normal July date so as not to clash with the A7CA Centenary celebrations.
