Not quite sure what you mean Mark? The springs, and the plates on the bobbin and the actuator cam stop them from going anywhere they shouldn't. More details are on a couple of articles on the web, which is where I got the idea.
In one article a removeable bobbin is turned up to facilitate removal? and for easy adjustment
