That doesn't surprise me.
I've driven a Cobra in the wet, and span it.

Yes Dickie65 but as far as I understand only if all pre war A7 parts. Many specials were built in the 50's with post war Ford and other engines. Its these cars I feel could be more usefully embraced by the VSCC.

I suspect that as far as the VSCC is concerned it is a balancing act to keep events at full capacity and to encourage a broader membership base without losing the clubs roots.

Seems to me that there's always been lot of dancing round their handbags to keep out cars with pre war 'Flathead' Ford V8 motors and the like where the performance of that 'Detroit Iron' might well embarrass the owners of expensive 'thoroughbred' machinery.

The president hasn't got one, that's why. Look how quickly attitudes changed to Model A Fords with Model B innards once Tom Threlfall bought one!

Is there any footage available on YouTube showing the Eligibilty Sub Committee dancing round handbags? Just asking for a friend.

I think you will find the Specials are mostly constructed of original pre 40s parts...eg A7 with a homemade or supplied in the period specialist body.

I have the ‘ Post War Specials’ illustration up on my workshop wall — produced by the Austin Seven Clubs Association in 1992
The Gould Imp and Colin Westwood’s Paxton are about the latest, dating from the mid eighties.
VSCC eligibility doesn’t bother me but if someone wanted to start differentiating they could start by looking at this. And good luck to them!
