Let's just say I've never seen one for sale in nearly 40 years of owning a Nippy

Well if its 21mm, then fine!

He rebushed a 1" SU for me and I believe he keeps Ruairidh's rarer carbs going, from other forum posts I've read...
(He's also advised me not to fiddle unnecessarily with other things I've asked him about)

Anyone have a list for what c.1127 Zenith VM5 is? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/233013972932?ul_noapp=true
I suspect this may be a Speedy-ish 25mm, and will add it to the Nippy site list... but would like to know!

Not even sure if the 30VEI is that great a carb, but I'm a conservationist at heart, so I want to get it working as well as I can. I agree completely it is much better I leave it alone rather than mess it up, but I had hoped one of the greybeards would say it was an easy fix - here's how to do it.

I would suggest as others have, leave it alone not worth the risk on a carb that is virtually irreplaceable.
It is only a pivot pin and still looks quite up to the job.

No Jon, not Speedy, my Nippy with a Speedy engine in it had the VEI carb. The listing says it's for an A40!

The VM 5 is a newer carb from the 50's 60's even the Austin A 40 and A 30 used them
They work quite well on a Nippy manifold but watch out for the choke size I have one with a 19mm choke.

RE: Zenith carb - ideas please - JonE - 22-11-2018

Yes, I realise it's for an A40, but all the applications are really down to choke size... and you can alter jets to suit.

The 19mm c.855 was fitted as a factory replacement for Nippy VE1s in the 50s.

I can't find a listing for a c.1127 on oldengine.org site, which is why I posted here for someone who might know the choke size.

If its 19 or 23 or 25 choke, then its a potentially good economic dd carb for someone with an incomplete pile of Nippy bits.

Burlen stock them, so it might be worth asking them if, no one on the forum knows the choke size.
