1928 Gordon England 'Cup' Project
#1
Survived as Rolling chassis, but with enough parts to identify the car as the remains of a 'Cup'. The Cowl. Scuttle hoop. Dropped steering column. Transmission Tunnel are all 'Cup' parts.

Chassis plate in situ which confirms it as a chassis supplied to a Coach builder.

Appeared in Finds & Discoveries - Automobile Magazine when it surfaced.

Mag engine. Number not far from the chassis number so likely its original.

Mechanically complete.

Engine appears 'rebuilt' and should run. Bores ok. Reground valves, big ends and look freshly metalled. I've found a good mag. Carb needs work to finish.

Chassis is tidy enough and straight but is as found. I see no rot, I don't doubt there will be some isolated areas but its tidy.

Correct 3 speed gate change box, Banjo axle. Bacon Slicer starter all present and correct.

I've been collecting parts to restore the car since I've had it, biggest items are:
  • A reproduction body frame, complete with the ply to cover it.

  • New but unfinished aluminium Bonnet tops and lourved side panels included.
  • Kit of parts/castings to build the correct windscreen (ex Tom Abernethy)

Plus lots of smaller stuff:
  • It has repro body mounts by Andrew Goodfellow.

  • Genuine Cup flitch plates (totally rotten) as patterns.

  • Short Radiator that will recore to suit.

  • Smiths PA Speedo.

  • Lucas Mag type switch panel.

  • Tubes and levers for the Advance/Retard & throttle (correct screw on horn button type)

  • Pair of suitable sidelights.

  • 1 headlight

  • 5No Vintage wheels.

  • Parts to assemble a starting handle.

The car is basically in one piece - Substantially complete (for DVLA purposes). Pushes and steers. The handbrake even works.

I am selling as I have too many projects (there are another 3 Austins and 2 steamers here), plus I'm not sure I'll ever fit in it!.

The car is correctly registered as a tourer on a recent V5C in my name.

The registration is non transferable (saves the questions). 2 letters, 4 numbers - it is NOT an age related issue.

Rare opportunity to buy what would be a very desirable genuine vintage Austin 7 open 2 seater.

£8500 ono.

Nice project for someone Hedd.

I don’t think I could face doing the wings and tail cover again
Otherwise I might have been interested?
Would be good to get a “real” Cup on the road?
