Radio Nottingham Interview - Nick Salmon
#1
The Centenary committee's very own Press & PR Manager, Nick Salmon, was on Radio Nottingham yesterday talking about Austin Sevens and the Centenary.

You can hear the interview via the link below.

It starts at about 1hr 44 mins in.

An excellent interview, Nick, well done. It was good that you got in the origins of BMW and Jaguar, but it would have been even better if you had added Cooper, Lotus, Jensen and McLaren to the list  Big Grin !

Austin: not Willys or Datsun - neither had their origins in the Seven.

Willys was a well-established company that, together with Ford, were awarded the US Government contract to build the Bantam 'Jeep' because their lobbying voice was greater.

Contrary to the urban myth, the Datsun of the 1930s owed nothing to the Austin, other than they possibly shared the same coachbuilder which resulted in a superficially similar shape.

Hi Eric - can't you log on to the recording? If not, I can fix it for you.
