I don't think there are any records to show the original colour of an individual 1936 car, but the Archive has a set of 1936 colour swatches from which Stephane could make a personal choice:

If the seats are red, then almost certainly the car was also red or maroon.

perhaps he could do some scratching in the hinge area and odd corners where he might be able to find out?

and the paints are available from Adam Brown of Craftmaster paints... I was able to arrange for Adam to have access to the original paint swatches and scanned to provide the formulations. The shades should be quite accurate as the paint swatches had been perfectly preserved in their case in the dark...
