RK Saloon body
#1
Hi

Can anyone with an RK Saloon tell me if the body bolts to the ends of the crossmembers and if it does are there spacers or brackets to do this?

Thanks

H Stuart,

There are two types of chassis used on RK saloons:

Up to late summer 1929 (early type)
After Autumn 1929 (1930, uncoupled type)

My October 1929 car uses the latter type and the outer ends of the crossmember are bolted straight onto the side rails of the body, i.e. the inner steel panels that the running boards fix to.

On the earlier chassis, the body brackets would bolt to the floor in the same way that they do on a Chummy.

Hope that helps, attached, photos of the front and rear of my car.

I'm pretty sure this is original for a 1929/30 car; this car is virtually untouched and unrestored since it left the factory.

Hi Stuart

Mine does (without spacers) but I wouldn’t guarantee that they are original. At the rear the floor pan is bolted at the front the bolt goes through the running board.

Repeat I’ve no idea if this is how it left the factory.

Cheers

Perfect, that's what I thought they did but just wanted to make sure.
Thanks for the replies.
