Bob the first photo this crank had been raced for 5yrs and it was from a friends car, I was only sent the photo. The 2nd crank about the same age I removed from the broken c/case this photo shows the break before dismantling, both were 1"5.16, I would not advise anyone to race with a 1"5.16 they have a limited life.

Fast progressing fatigue cracks are often hard to judge but the photo appears as usual to start from the inside. A failure near the middle of crank could reasonably be expected to start from the outside, hence my curiosity.

Hello Gene, 
the fault is the little ends are drilled underneath on the thrust side leading to wear. If they are more than a couple of tenths of a thou oversize then new oversize pins will be required. 
  Personally I wouldn't use any original sports rods with the advent of beautifully designed and made new ones.
